Why Choose Digital over Disposable Cameras

It seems to have been a long standing tradition that Brides and Grooms provide disposable cameras so guests can have a bit
of fun, capturing the less formal memories of the couples big day. The cameras are normally left on the tables at the wedding
reception to be used during the speeches, dinner and evening festivities.

Whilst technology has moved on, the age old tradition of providing a “cheap disposable camera” still survives. We say cheap
but is it really a cheap option?

Let us take a quick look. As an example, let us say you are going to have 10 table and you purchase ten disposable cameras at
a cost of £3.50 each. Typically these will have 27 exposures. You then have to get prints processed and you will probably
want the photos digitised onto CD so you can keep them or use them on electronic photo frames and the like.

Lets say on average you are looking at £5.99 to have the film developed and printed and another £5 to have the images
scanned to a CD. Therefore the total cost of your ten disposable cameras with prints and a CD comes to £144.90, so perhaps
not so cheap an option after all. This is especially true when you look at some of the results from disposable camera when
compared to digital camera.

A disposable camera can produce quite reasonable pictures in good daylight conditions, but the picture quality tends to
decrease when you move inside or in to the evening. This is unfortunate as a great deal of the time disposable cameras are
utilised at weddings is at the reception, indoors and in the evening.

Remember many of your guests will already have their own digital cameras that they bring to your wedding which you may
wish to add to your wedding portfolio.

Pictures Per Camera

Every picture is a memory. Typically disposable cameras will take 37 or 36 shots per cameras. With digital cameras you can
take many more pictures, typically 200 or more per camera

Better Quality

Disposables don't take good pictures, see the example above and if you are still not convinced pose the question on any
wedding forum, or better still go out and buy just one, take a mixture of daytime and evening shots and see if you are happy
with the results. The add to the mix that you will not have to pay to develop photos you dont want, like uncle Freds Beer
Glass!

Easy to Share

If you buy disposable cameras, in order to share your photos you will have to get the film developed and then the images
digitised and loaded onto CD so you can email them to friends or get the additional CDs cut.
